Poetry in Translation
Presented by : MANCHESTER LITERATURE FESTIVAL
We are delighted to be hosting the Manchester leg of this national tour organised by the Poetry Translation Centre. The event features Corsino Fortes from Cape Verde, Noshi Gillani from Pakistan, and Maxamed Xaashi Dhamac ‘Gaarriye’ from Somaliland. They are all distinguished figures in their own countries, and their poems have been translated by linguists paired with leading UK poets, Sean O’Brien, Lavinia Greenlaw and W N Herbert. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating insight into the art of translation.
