Gawu Education Project

During the Gawu exhibition local students and their tutors are working with textile artist Elaine Brett. The artwork that they create, inspired by El Anatsui’s work, will be on display in the gallery foyer.

Elaine and the students will adapt El Anatsui’s method of using materials available in his environment that can be recycled. Their artwork will use materials that link to Oldham’s environment and history, such as found materials from the textile industry.

Their preparatory sketches and responses to El Anatsui’s work will be shown alongside the finished pieces.
