National Poetry Day at the Library Theatre

We celebrate National Poetry Day with returning favourite Val Bloom. Val was born in Clarendon, Jamaica and came to England in 1979. A consummate poet, Val has performed widely in Britain and the Caribbean including the Edinburgh, WOMAD and Hay on Wye Festivals. Her performances include a ‘crash course’ in patois for audience members unfamiliar with the language. Her last appearance at the festival led to marriage proposals from schoolchildren and created an unforgettable atmosphere for all who were there.
